Tis the time of the year for haunting ghost stories, monsters and creepy thrillers. The days are growing shorter, meaning there’s more of the night, more of the fright, and plenty of horror reads sitting on my shelves that I need to read!
Strange Ink by Gary Kemble
Purely purchased by the interesting cover and back cover premise, this is a book that could go any direction. Which is perfect to kick off the month of slashers and spooks. A man who suddenly gets random tattoos showing up on his skin sounds like a real flesh tingling sort of tale.
The Asylum by John Harwood
There had to be a moment for me to get in a Victorian, gothic novel of suspense and mistaken identity. I’m a huge fan of the gothic setting, it sends tingles down my spine just thinking about it. This looks to be the perfect little dose of historic thriller I’m hoping for.
The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters
“A supernatural thriller in the vein of A Head Full of Ghosts…” Um, need you say more about this book to get me to read it? Nope! I’m so looking forward to this awesome book about two girls who love the macabre, until it gets one of them killed. Yay! I’m excited to see who did the killing.
No One Gets Out Alive by Adam Nevill
If you haven’t read The Ritual, you should, before you see the movie. I know many people loved the adaptation, while I felt the book was far spookier and brilliantly more interesting. But, that’s neither here nor there. This book from Neville is about whispers in the walls and unsettling neighbors. I’m stoked to read another of his works.
